Roman Dam and main water sources of the Aqueduct
The first intervention of this pathway is the project of a support structure next to the main water sources. In this place the trails are redesigned (1), so that easy access to the new and the old Mãe de Água (3) is provided. This is the first of three proposed entrances to the Aqueduct, and from this point it is possible to walk around it, both in and outside, for over 2km.
Supportive volume
This structure, below a yard suitable for parking, has two bathrooms and a row of lockers (5). On the same plan, both a new crossing over the river and a weir are designed to remind once again a possible dam from around the 3rd century (6). Here the reference to Lois Barragán's projects in the treatment of the new value of the ruin is clear.
