AQUEDUCT MEMORIES CONSERVATION PROJECT
Quintã’s Cottage
This unoccupied farm is strategically placed above one of the hills of the valley. Here is proposed a conservation project for the building, transforming it into temporary housing. This place is older than the construction of the Aqueduct, being also the mark of the traditional people of Lisbon’s outskirts.
A short stay in countryside
Halfway on the hill there is a parking area (4). Through it there is a walking staircase that goes from the top to the bottom of the valley, very close to the water front and the main part of the Aqueduct (7). The new cottage has space for 8 simple bedrooms and a dormitory (9), as well as a common area (10) and a canteen. Outside everyone can have a panorama view of the surrounding landscape, where the presence of the new dike is remarkable.
