LOTUS WORKSHOP, CORSICA, APRIL 2012

Assisted mobility project

Every year thousands of tourists visit the city of Bonifacio, in Corsica island. As a municipality request, an intensive workshop with students from different Architecture universities of Europe. was promoted with the main goal of collecting as many ideas as possible to arrange an easy access to the hotspots of the old town.

A path from the main city entrance, which is at a lower elevation, was designed. On its way to the top, some interventions are marked to provide easy access to every visitor. Firstly, a funicular to climb the first slope (6), then a very simple construction of a sidewalk (8) to be vertically aligned with some unoccupied housing. There is an ideal point for subterranean elevator, on a new tourist information building (10).
